Biometric scanners at the EU airports this summer



This summer in a number of the airports of the world the passport control system, equipped only by scanners (without control service employees) for recognition of biometric data of the air passenger and its overlapping with those in the passport will be already established. , authorities consider that powerful machines will make passport control more quickly and better.
Such pilot project will be introduced this summer for the European Union countries and the Great Britain. Passengers with new biometric passports will pass through scanners.
Nevertheless, it is not excluded that some passengers can negatively react to result of their check given by machine. It is supposed, that such passengers can rise in usual turn to the officer of passport control who has powers to pass the passenger at own discretion, using the additional information and instructions. The matter is that machines-scanners are adjusted on absolutely closing pass for police services appearing in lists, but the applied technology supposes some segment for mistakes concerning people, who are being under suspicion. As a result the machine can give refusal, but there are no acknowledgements - they do not appear in the lists.

Winter has come to Southern Africa



This year winter has come to Southern Africa unusually early. Contrary to ordinary statements about “eternal heat in the countries of this continent, already today in Dragon Mountains on border from Lesotho the first snow has fallen.
According to meteorologists today the average temperature made about zero and in the central province of the country two people become the victims of snow storm. It is not excluded that the winter will start with snowfalls and low temperatures. The winter of the last year which, as well as is necessary in the Southern hemisphere, lasted from May till September, has stood out the most severe for long years.
Weather forecasters promise, that this year the winter can once again surpass all records. However, last months have brought a lot of climatic riddles: the season of rains has stood out extraordinary plentiful and has not come to the end till now, having tightened more than for a month against usual. Till last days the heat was also observed. As a result transition period from summer to the winter has occurred more than sharply - in one day at all without autumn.

Russian tourists have found new vacation spot



Indonesia has come on change to Cyprus, Turkey and Egypt. The number of the Russians, who are having a rest on Bali, grows year from a year.
For first two months 2008 13,4 thousand Russians have visited Bali. It is on 37 % more, than for the similar period of 2007 (9,8 thousand tourists). In general, in 2007, 36,9 thousand Russians have visited Bali and it is on 47 % more, than in 2006.
Tourists from Russia - are on the seventh place by quantity among the foreigners, who are having a rest at Bali. For first two months of 2008 294 thousand foreign tourists have visited Indonesian island.
Popularity of rest in Bali among Russians has reached already such high level that in 2008 consulate of Russia will be opened on the Island. Besides, authorities of Indonesia promised to promote the Russian cinematographers removing the films on islands.
While, interest to Indonesia(among Russians) continues to grow. Nevertheless, Russians prefer to spend their holidays in turkey and, as it has become known, in 2007 1,9 million Russians have visited this country.  Egypt (1,25 million) is on the second place in a rating of popularity.

Starwood opens magnificent hotel on Mauritius



On June, 1st, Hotel group Starwood Hotels and Resorts opens hotel Grand Mauritian Resort and Spa in the northwest of island Mauritius.
As it has become the hotel will have 193 room-numbers, including - suits and junior suits. This hotel will become the first hotel of mark Luxury Collection in Indian Ocean. The most severe countries of the world



This year China has reduced number sentenced to death penalty in comparison with 2007, however, all the same China remains the world leader on number of executed people. The Amnesty International group has informed on it in the annual report.
Iran with 377 executions including the person, hammered by stones for matrimonial change is on the second place. The third position has been given to Saudi Arabia (143). The number of executed in the USA has fallen up to a 15-year minimum and because of this the country has appeared on the fifth place with 42 executions a year.
It is worth of mentioning that, according to research, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Libya are the leaders by quantity of executions per capita. In three states - Iran, Saudi Arabia and Yemen, - citizens under 18 years have been sentenced to death penalty and it contradicts norms of international law.
In total in 2007 in the world more than 1200 death sentences have been resulted in the performance and the general number of such verdicts has made 3347.

Free-of-charge Wi-Fi will appear in Madrid buses



Madrid transport company EMT is going to enter new service for passengers in city buses. They can shortly use free-of-charge access to the wireless Internet.
Points of access will be equipped on the most popular routes prior to the beginning of summer and if the project will be successful Wi-Fi will appear in all buses of city.
In order to take advantage of free-of-charge service, the passenger should enter the password or a code, which can be received in booths of sale of bus tickets.
The equipment of buses with wireless Internet is a part of the city program on transport technological development for 2008-2011. It provides transition to harmless fuel, creation of transportation conditions of handicapped people, activization of service e-bus, owing to which the passenger can learn an arrival time of the nearest bus, and many other things by means of sms-inquiry.

Nepal authorities have forbidden selling alcohol



Tourists, who plan to visit Nepal within the nearest week, should consider that in connection with forthcoming elections in legislative assembly in the country sale and manufacture of alcoholic drinks and movement on the country on public and private transport is forbidden.
Such unprecedented measures have been accepted by authorities in order to prevent flash of violence over the free elections first for last 9 years in the country. Authorities are afraid of ethnic collisions in the south of Nepal and protests of inhabitants of the Tibetan enclaves in northwest. Meantime Nepal large changes are waiting: the assembly should make changes to the constitution and change a state system of the country, having transformed it in republic.

The hotel in jen style has opened in Hong Kong



In Hong Kong the new hotel under name Jen, intended, under the statement of owners, for exacting travelers, who do not want to pay easy money for high quality, has opened. Jen is located in the West of city, nearby to the Hong Kong University and the entertaining centers.
