What we eat during the flight



To feed the passengers in air is a direct task of each airline. Each airport has the specialized enterprises delivering round the clock various kinds of a feed on boards of planes. And it is quite specific business  - the experts of this profession learn it only from their own experience…
Industrial subtleties
It appears, that there are two kinds of “onboard feed” - “direct” and “return”. The first one - is recently prepared and stored at +5 degrees temperature food. The second one - is the half prepared frozen portions hardly underdone or hardly undercooked. It is necessary, that at warming up (the cook specifies how many minutes are required to a concrete dish in an accompanying piece of paper) it “cunningly” in the onboard microwave oven of the plane by the moment of submission on a leaning back aviation little table.
Usually firms deliver not only meal, but also various account materials (a paper, napkins, air fragrances) in planes, lease the equipment, for example, containers. And it is necessary to deliver all this aboard for one and a half hour before the take off. And sometimes in a rush hour when the schedule of flights skips, and it is necessary to give 20 000 - 30 000 portions, not all turns out. It is clear, that here in a competition the one who is closer to airfield, who is more quickly, works more operatively. Certainly, the essential role is also played with quality and the price.
Our choice
The ordinary passenger can “order nothing in advance”, even if he flies in the raised comfort of a business class. The preference can be defined on hot, cold dishes, but only depending on what the board team will order. The set of all “packages” is always defined by a preliminary choice of airline. Some, the most economical, airlines order only cold dishes, and some airlines - only a tea table (at short flights). However, we have one more choice - “to eat or not to eat”.
