The most severe countries of the world



This year China has reduced number sentenced to death penalty in comparison with 2007, however, all the same China remains the world leader on number of executed people. The Amnesty International group has informed on it in the annual report.
Iran with 377 executions including the person, hammered by stones for matrimonial change is on the second place. The third position has been given to Saudi Arabia (143). The number of executed in the USA has fallen up to a 15-year minimum and because of this the country has appeared on the fifth place with 42 executions a year.
It is worth of mentioning that, according to research, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Libya are the leaders by quantity of executions per capita. In three states - Iran, Saudi Arabia and Yemen, - citizens under 18 years have been sentenced to death penalty and it contradicts norms of international law.
In total in 2007 in the world more than 1200 death sentences have been resulted in the performance and the general number of such verdicts has made 3347.
