“Boeing” has been fueled by vegetable oil
Passenger Boeing 747 has made the first-ever regular flight with biofuel. However, for safety reasons, there were no passengers onboard the plane.
The liner of the company Virgin Atlantic has taken off from London airport Heathrow and in an hour it has safely landed in Amsterdam. One of tanks of “Boeing” has been fueled with a mix on the basis of vegetative raw material.
Combustible “cocktail” has turned out rather exotic: its structure included coco and the Brazilian nut babassu oil.
In Sir Richard Branson’s opinion (President of Virgin Atlantic) the flight has shown that the passenger aircraft can pass to ecologically pure fuel much earlier, than it was expected.
Sir Richard Branson has given such comment to this pleasant occasion:”This breakthrough will help Virgin Atlantic to fly its planes using clean fuel sooner than expected.”
