Passengers’ luggage will be marked with chips
Technical innovations are being actively introduced at London Heathrow airport. This time the British company BBA, engaged in management of the airports, has decided to mark travelers bags with special radio-chips.
Now both the passenger, and workers of the airport, and representatives of security services can constantly trace, where there is a luggage and to whom it belongs. Tourists will receive necessary information on arrival of the luggage through sms-messages.
The project will manage to the airport approximately in 300 thousand dollars, and authorities expect to trace about 50 thousand bags every month by means of new system. Work of the airport should become noticeably more effectively, and the quantity of the lost bags and suitcases - to be reduced to a minimum.
In 2006 became such large British airline, as British Airways, became the leader on loss of luggage. The statistics of Association of the European airlines approves, that in 2006 on every 1000 air passengers at British Airways have had 23 cases of luggage loss. Representatives of the company do not deny AEA’s data.
