Russian tourists will pay a twice high price for the visa to France
The embassy of France in Moscow has declared about its intention to transfer registration of entry visas for citizens of Russia of the private company up to the end of 2007. It is most likely, that the right of rendering of visa services will be received by the Indian firm “Visa Facilitation Services” which help the embassy of the Great Britain has already used earlier.
According to the press attaché of French embassy, this decision is explained by the need to reduce terms of consideration of applications for issue of visa from 2 weeks till 3 days. The embassy will continue to make out only long-term students or business visas. As a result of these changes the French visa can rise in price approximately for 26 euros, and its registration will manage to the Russian citizens in 60 euros.
Problems with registration of the French visas have begun in the spring of 2006. Then as a result of strike of employees of a consular department 2 days of the visa to France stood out only under urgent applications. Travel agencies have lost hundred thousand euro, and about 3000 Russians could not get to France for May holidays.
In August 2006 the embassy (without an explanation of the reasons) has limited the reception of applications for visas registration to participants of bus tours in such a manner that one tourist agency could make an application only on 1 bus group. The reasons of such step are not explained. But there have been some assumptions that French ambassadors have decided to struggle with illegal immigrants, getting to France under the cheap tour. As a result tour operators should pay 2 million euro to the clients who have not received the visas and 500 thousand euro more - to hotels as the penalty for annulment of booking.
The situation has repeated in December, 2006, and a New Year’s rest about 1000 tourists who have already paid the permits was under threat of failure. The consular department has explained such decision by the doubled number of usual applications for the given period.
