Roads of Malta are named by the safest in the European Union

The European Council on traffic safety has published the report on European Union’s roads safety. In 2006 the number of victims of the European Union’s roads has made 39200 people.
According to the report’s data, the worst situation is in the Baltics. In Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia parameters on death rate in road and transport incidents on 1 million inhabitants are the highest. Lithuania is leading on this parameter: in the country 223 people on 1 million inhabitants die in road accident.
Bulgaria, Romania and Hungary are close to the Baltics by quantity of road victims. And roads of Malta and Holland (27 and 45 person, accordingly) are the safest.
he purpose declared by the European Union relies in reducing by 2010 number of victims of auto failures on half - while France, Luxembourg and Portugal, where since 2001 the number of death on roads was reduced to 40 percent, are close to this parameter.
