Gardening of Indonesia
79 million trees will be planted in Indonesia for one day. Authorities of the country plan to plant trees and shrubs in Indonesia and to stop cutting down of woods.
With a view of struggle against global warming and restoration of large forests Indonesia plans to plant 79 million trees on November, 28th, 2007.
The action, in which the president of the country will take part, will be dated for opening the summit of the United Nations on struggle against global warming which will pass in December, 2007 at the Indonesian island Bali. Eucalyptus and yew tree are the basic trees, which will be planted in Indonesia.
Trees will be distributed among 70 000 villages of the country, where officials and countrymen will be engaged in gardening of territory.
In May the independent public organization on environment protection has Green Peace has declared that Indonesia loses woods in an equivalent of 300 football fields per hour. Approximately 1,8 million hectares of a wood have been destroyed within the period since 2000 till 2005 that makes 2 % of all green territory a day.
Except for mass commercial preparation of wood, the Indonesian woods are also destroyed by fires and clarification of the grounds for plantations of palm oil. Since 2003 the government has shown the initiative on preservation of a wood, having signed the agreement with Japan.
