Cow Parade in Rio de Janeiro



The world’s largest open-air art-festival Cow Parade has begun in Rio de Janeiro. The plastic cows painted under sketches more of 100 Brazilian artists, have settled down on quays of world famous beaches, in streets and the areas of the city. It is possible to meet participants of competition in airports’ terminals, railway stations and underground stations. In spite of the fact that population of Rio is spoilt by different sort by cultural actions, cows parade has already caused the liveliest interest of local residents and tourists, who are willingly photograph on their background.
According to organizers of festival, which will be prolonged till November, 26th, “Cow parade” - is the largest and playful open-air exhibition in the world. Themes of the plots, represented on the cow sides, amaze with their great variety.
For the first time charitable “Cow parade” has passed in 1998 in Zurich. In total more than 30 cities of the world participated in the project.
After end of actions exhibits are being sold out from auction, and the obtained money go on the charitable purposes. During existence of the project organizers have already managed to gain more than 11 million US dollars.
