Bomb blast in the Maldives
The bomb has exploded near the entrance in the overflown park of rest on Maldives. 12 foreign tourists were injured.
Incident has occurred on Saturday, on September, 29th, near the entrance to the “Sultan Park” in capital of the country Male. 8 citizens of China, 2 Englishmen and 2 Japanese are among the victims. According to the Tourism Minister Mahamood Shaugee, injured people have received serious wounds.
Police representative Mohammed Sharif has told that Maldives never knew anything similar before and they take it very seriously because tourism is a basis of their life.
He also has added that during explosion the park has been overflown with tourists and local residents, having a rest during Ramadan - sacred month for Moslems.
Sharif has emphasized that tourists are still in the state of a shock, and the police has not interrogated them yet.
The police have started investigation. The government is measured to address for the help in the Interpol, United States and India.
Motives of a crime are still unknown. Tourism brings more than thirds of incomes into Maldives’ treasury - the tiny country, consisting of hundreds atolls. Every year about 600 thousand tourists visit Maldives islands.
