Monument to the prostitute in Riga
In the context of social campaign “STOP sex-terrorism!” the symbolical monument to the fallen girl entering thoughtless communications for one night has been opened in the center of Riga.
The representative of advertising agency “Alfa Centrs” has explained that the purpose of the action -is to draw attention of young girls and to warn them against chaotic sex, in fact it makes negative impression about Latvia abroad, and the part of tourists comes here only in searches of very young girls, instead of for admiring monuments of culture. Meanwhile, according to statistics, since 2004the number of tourists has grown on 53 % in Latvia.
The symbolical monument represents campaign’s trade mark: the image of opened mouth with the text “Sex? Terrorism”, cards of Latvia on a background of night city and the inscription “factory” and half-naked girls in bikini.
Social campaign “STOP sex-terrorism!” proceeded in Latvia for more than a month. In the context of this program organizers (public organization “Re!Action” in cooperation with “Alfa Centrs”) tried to dispel opinion that Riga - is a place of cheap night amusements with readily available sex-services.
Except for accommodation of the outdoor advertising, discussions on TV and in press on a theme of struggle about sex-tourism and spot-checks in Old Riga, during which participants of the action distributed visual materials of campaign, have been carried out.
