The hotel is being built on the place of former prison

New inhabited complex consisting of 1130 houses, a supermarket, boutiques and hotel will be constructed on the place of former Australian prison Pentridge. Pentridge Piazza developing company Valad Property Group will enclose $450 million into construction of this complex.
Prison Pentridge, constructed in the middle of XIX century in connection with rise of a crime rate during the Gold Fever, has been closed and sold in 1999. Former buildings of prison, watchtowers, and also original basalt walls which are object of a cultural heritage and are protected by the state are being used at construction of inhabited complex. The prison is in eight kilometers from Melbourne.
