Hares terrorize the airport of Milan
On Sunday authorities of Milan will close airport Linate. For some hours the special command of hunters will catch hares that make problems in movement of planes.
According to representatives of airport’s management, about eighty hares live on the territory of Linate. Animals often run on runways, causing handicaps at the radar-tracking equipment and threatening safety of flying up and loading air liners.
Only for last two weeks two hares have got under the wheels of small planes. Operation on hares’ catching is being carried out annually. However, in 2007, it will be the first time that the airport will be closed for several hours.
All the territory will be enclosed with a special fence in order not to allow hares to get into the dangerous zone. Animals will be caught with nets and will be brought to the nearest natural reserves.
