Saudi Arabia has prolonged term for tourist visas

Authorities of Saudi Arabia have decided to increase validity of the visa for tourist groups till 60 days, expecting that this step will increase the quantity of tourists. Earlier tourist visas to foreigners were given for the period, limited by the plan of concrete tour.
The prolonged term of the visa will allow tourists to visit more historical places and to know more about the history of the country. However, for a new kind of visas, the certain restrictions, which consist that the group should consist not less than from five person, and women in the age of till 30 years necessarily should be accompanied by the husband or one of relatives, are being set up.
Annually the tourist sector is bring Saudi Arabia 14,6 billion US dollars. However, the most part of this money is given by the pilgrims, who visit sacred places. At the same time, local authorities plan to develop actively this sector of economy. So, the law on tourism, which is directed on improvement of quality of given services, is being developed now. It is planned to allow local authorities to develop projects, which will promote attraction of investments for the improvement of existing and creations of new tourist zones.
The grandiose project on construction of resorts at coast of Red sea is also being developed. Along a coastal line (which is 1800 kilometers in length) modern hotels, a safari-parks, the entertaining centers will be constructed and for fans of extreme rest special the camp, reproducing Bedouins life, will be created in the desert.
Authorities of Saudi Arabia believe, that by 2020 the quantity of foreign tourists, annually visiting the country, will reach 1,5 million people, except for 2,5 million pilgrims, who come to the country for pilgrimage.
